Our History

Our prelate, Bishop Arthur F. Mosely, had a vision for the Charles H. Mason Jurisdictional Bible Institute for the Barbados 1st West Indies Jurisdiction, and he saw the need to see Christian leaders educated for service. When the Bible institute was established, Bishop Mosley was among the first foreign bishops to respond to the appeal. Pastors in Barbados listened intently as Bishop Mosley explained his vision for making Christian education more widely available and strengthening the Church of God in Christ's influence in Barbados.

Elder David E. Jackson, DMin, ABD, was chosen by Bishop Mosley as the Inaugural Dean of the CHMJ Bible Institute in December 2021. In January 2022, 40 students from Barbados and the United States enrolled in the institute's initial courses. An excellent group of Assistant Deans, administrative help, and instructors, together with the eagerness and dedication of the students, have all contributed to the Institute's success. The Barbados 1st West Indies Bible Institute hopes to set a standard for successful online biblical training for church leaders
